I am quite partial to scones,
slightly sweeter than Dad’s biscuits,
with gilded sugar crust atop
that warm pastry mixture.
they are suited perfectly
for an afternoon cup of tea.
Pie is pleasant in right weather,
but cake, often too sweet.
Scones can comfort in sad, cold weather
can celebrate when sunshine sings.
So useful and so dainty,
though heartily they satisfy,
scones are quite a pleasant treat
for study breaks and whimsies.
